V.S. PRABAKHAR [FIACS]

Mr. V. S. Prabakhar, started his career in retail industry, having serviced more than 10 years, he moved on to a new playing field i.e. sales, working as Sales Manager for a multinational company which had its regional office in Singapore and its head quarters in the UK.

After few years of working, he decided to venture into business on his own. Here he combined both his skills in retail and sales to run a successful retail store. However his short success was cringed as the world was pushed into recession in the mid 90’s. During this difficult period, all his money was tied up in stocks and as receivables.

He took a long and hard look at the current business scenario, and decided that he wanted to cut further losses and decided to end his business. He was left with options of rejoining the work force, which would take him up because of his vast experience or to continue being an entrepreneur.

He decided to take on the road less travelled and decided to be a successful entrepreneur. After firming up his mind, he opened up options on the viable industries he can venture i.e. between providing products or services. After much soul searching, he decided to be in the service industry.

His vision was to be “The Strategic Business Partner”. With this vision on board, he consulted with many industry players. Finally he decided on providing corporate administration services. Since he wanted to provide quality services, he embarked on formal studies on Corporate Administration in International Islamic University of Malaysia. During his course of studies, he approached one of his friends, who were then running a successful audit firm to be allowed to apprentice in his secretarial department without any salary. His friend agreed, what was meant to a short few months become one year. Finally he was invited to head his friend’s secretarial firm on a partnership basis in Klang. However this partnership only lasted less than two years because his Partner decided to pull out from Klang. Since he was there working the field, he knows the potential thus he decided to stay on in Klang and he then started of a small firm which provides Company Secretarial Services and other support services in order to become the “Strategic Business Partner”.

The Firm which was started in 2006 with a handful of clients has steadily grown from strength to strength. Now the Firm has in excess of 500 over clients from various industries which are helmed by both local and international communities.

Mr. V. S. Prabakhar is an Approved Company Secretary; licensed by the Companies Commission of Malaysia and he is also a member of Institute of Approved Company Secretaries (387525-X). Apart from that he is also a “Certified Business Coach” (UM). As a firm believer in lifelong learning, he has embarked on his MBA.
